Smart TVs come with many capabilities, which make them quite similar to computers. Unfortunately, smart TVs are expensive, but if you wish to browse the web or enjoy other interesting features on your TV, you should try Kylo. It allows you to visit your favorite websites and access any online contents like any web browser on the market, but it is designed specifically for TV screens. It displays large buttons and fonts, which can be seen from across the room. If you have the possibility of connecting your TV to your computer, you can use this program to browse through any online contents on your TV in a comfortable manner.

Installing Kylo is a straightforward procedure. You don't have to make any other configurations, besides selecting a destination folder or creating shortcuts. The software is free and open source and it works on all modern Windows platforms.

The general idea behind Kylo is simple. If your computer is connected to a TV, you can run the software and control its interface with a wireless mouse or keyboard, while sitting in front of the TV. Alternatively, you can purchase a Scoop pointer, which works at greater distances from your computer, via radio waves. You may connect your computer to a TV with an HDMI cable, VGA, S-video, composite or other types of cables.

The user interface presents a wide range of news sites, social medias and other online services on a home page. They are displayed as logos, in separate tiles, and you can filter them by their contents. All you have to do is click a logo to access its corresponding websites. You can find an address bar and navigation options, like Home, Next, Back or Refresh in the lower region of the interface. If the fonts on a website are too small to read from afar, you can zoom in on the page, without any negative effects on the contents or the interface.

Kylo includes a virtual keyboard as well, with large buttons, which can be seen from a distance. You can type with the virtual keyboard on any website and you can also use it to type your own website addresses or search for something on the web. If you can't find certain websites on the home page, you can create bookmarks to access them instantly.

Pros

The software provides a modern and elegant interface, designed for standard or widescreen TVs. It allows you to access various online services, as well as your own websites. It displays large buttons, so you can see them even if your TV is across the room.

Cons

There are no serious drawbacks to mention. While using Kylo, you can enjoy the functionality and advantages of a computer on your TV.
